High Standards
The FCBHA vision and mission statements reflect a dedication and commitment to the goal of providing opportunities for individuals to find growth, recovery, and quality of life along their journey to health and wellness.
Advisory Board Consultation
To enable us to operate with a greater understanding of Fayette County citizens across all cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds, FCBHA consults regularly with two advisory boards the Behavioral Health Advisory Board and the HealthChoices Advisory Board.
Behavioral Health Managed Care Organization Certification
Fayette County Behavioral Health Administration (FCBHA) is known state-wide as a pioneer in managing HealthChoices, the behavioral health portion of the managed care program for Medical Assistance recipients. While other counties contract with Behavioral Health Managed Care Organizations (BHMCO), Fayette County became the first county certified by the Department of Human Services as a BHMCO and also has a Utilization Review license. Each requires FCBHA to ensure that Medical Assistance recipients receive quality medical care and timely access to appropriate mental health and/or drug and alcohol services, a great benefit to all residents of Fayette County
"Fayette Model" Success
This approach is now commonly referred to, among other Pennsylvania counties, as the “Fayette Model” and has proven to be a much more effective and creative way to deliver behavioral health care. With care-managers in place for the most complicated cases, and a staff that knows the resources of our county well, administrative costs have been consistently and substantially lower than those of any other county. However, as a BHMCO, Fayette County takes full responsibility for any financial gains or losses. We are happy to report that through efficient management, we have experienced gains in 10 of the 11 years of operation, allowing us to create and maintain programs and services that meet the needs of the County very well.
