Coronavirus Update - Fayette County Offices to Resume Operations, Effective Monday, May 18

Fayette County offices will resume operations and open to the public at 8:00 am Monday, May 18, with the following guidelines in place:

  • Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), social distancing will be required in all county buildings. 
  • Notices will be placed outside all county offices, displaying the number of occupants permitted inside the space at any given time.  Visitors may be asked to wait in hallways or outside the building.
  • Masks will be required for all visitors and employees. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in all offices.
  • If you are sick or believe you have been exposed to Covid-19, please do not visit any county offices.  Additionally, please limit the number of people accompanying you to only the minimum necessary to conduct your business.

Some county offices will be conducting business by appointment only, and others may offer limited or modified services.  For details, please visit the web page for the department of interest or call the courthouse at 724.430.1200.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Board of Commissioners is to provide efficient services in a cost effective manner to all County residents, businesses and other governmental agencies.


It is the goal of the Fayette County Commissioners to: 

  • Ensure public access to information in simple and understandable formats
  • Organize the County's technology to make it accessible to all departments and residents
  • Develop stronger working relations with the local governments and municipalities
  • Improve the County hiring process by more effective determination of employee duties and qualifications for County positions


The Commissioners serve on the Prison Board, Salary Board, Election Board and Retirement Board.
