Researching one's family tree is an informative and fun endeavor enjoyed by countless people. It is also a path generously strewn with stumbling blocks, not the least of which is tracking down historical records. Just knowing where to look can be quite a challenge. Even when one knows where to look, doing research from a distance presents difficulties of its own. The purpose of this page is to gather together as many Fayette County-specific resources as possible. If you know of additional online resources please email the Genealogy page Webmaster.

E-Services Records Project

Fayette County is in the process of preparing public records - dating back to the County’s founding in 1783 - for E-Service (i.e. online) availability through this website. A grant is enabling the necessary preparatory work (microfilming, etc.) to be done by the Records Department in cooperation with the County Row Offices. .

Online Genealogical Resources for Fayette County

Even though the County's records are not yet available on the website a wealth of online resources to assist in researching family history IS available. Our goal is to make this page as comprehensive a collection of such resources as possible. As already noted above, suggestions of additional websites are welcome!
