The inaugural Fayette County Career Fair takes place 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Fayette County Behavioral Health Administration.

Uniontown, PA - Local job seekers may soon find a career in county government, as Fayette County hosts its inaugural Career Fair next month.

The two-day event takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at the Fayette County Behavioral Health Administration, 215 Jacob Murphy Lane in Uniontown.

Fayette County Human Resources Director Cristi Spiker said the Career Fair is a great opportunity to potentially fill some of the county’s vacant positions with “quality and talented individuals who are looking for anything from part-time work to building a long-term career.”

“This will give individuals an opportunity to work for an organization that offers long-term opportunities and advancement,” Spiker said. “We have an incredible benefit package that includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability and pension – just to name a few.”

Free and open to the public, the Career Fair will feature information booths and meet-and-greet opportunities with multiple county departments, including Children and Youth Services, the Fayette County Jail, Fayette Area Coordinated Transportation (FACT), Fayette County Emergency Management Agency/911, the Sheriff’s Department and more.

Human Resources representatives will be on site conducting open interviews with qualified candidates. Job seekers are encouraged to bring resumes and at least one form of identification to the event.

“You’ll speak with employers who have actual openings available; make important connections; receive valuable advice; and meet and speak with our county leaders,” Spiker said. “Fayette County offers a very team-driven environment with top-notch leadership.”

Fayette County Commissioner Vince Vicites said working for Fayette County government means “working in public service at its finest.”

“We offer competitive salaries and benefits. Job seekers should attend to see all the lucrative positions we have available across our many departments,” Vicites said. “We’re seeking people that want to serve the public through fulfilling careers that make a difference in people’s lives.”

Commissioner Chairman Dave Lohr said the generous benefits package, host of healthcare options and ample time off - including all federal holidays - are just a few of the many perks of working for county government.

“Better still, there is always room for growth. So many employees begin their time with us in one position, then either move up the ladder within their department or move to a new position in another department,” Lohr said. “An added benefit is the opportunity to work with some of the finest, most dedicated people you’ll ever have the privilege to work with; and the biggest benefit of all is being part of an organization that makes a difference in the day-to-day lives of those living and working in Fayette County. Whether you’re looking for a career in county government or a position to build your resume, employment at Fayette County fits the bill.”

Lohr said Fayette County government is a diverse organization, with positions to suit people from every walk of life, interest and skill level.

“Have you ever noticed that reading a job posting in the paper or online just doesn’t do the position justice? Fayette County is no different. Come to the job fair and speak directly to our outstanding human resources team. You’ll learn far more about the positions we have available than we can put in a print advertisement,” he said. “As commissioner, I take great pride in the team we’ve built by focusing on building a strong cohort of hard-working, talented individuals with the skills and vision to take this county to the next level. I encourage all those seeking employment opportunities to come to the career fair. You can see what Fayette County has to offer, and let us see what you have to offer Fayette County.”
