The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) will host a public meeting and 30-day public comment period ahead of updating its short-term transportation plan.
The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) will host a public meeting 2 to 4 p.m. May 21, focused on the 2025-28 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The meeting will take place in the Fayette County Commissioners' Conference Room at the former Gallatin Bank Building, 2 W. Main St. in Uniontown.
As the federally designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO), SPC is required by the state and federal government to host public meetings and a 30-day public comment period to solicit feedback on the TIP. The public comment period runs from May 8 to June 7.
SPC Public Involvement Coordinator Ronda Craig said the TIP is a "living and breathing document" that serves as a short-term transportation plan, which is written every four years and updated every two years. The feedback collected from local leaders and county residents "helps to inform the transportation and infrastructure planning work that will take place in our region in the coming years," she said.
SPC staff, county officials and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation representatives will give brief presentations on local TIP projects before opening the meeting for a question-and-answer period.
To submit public comments, email comments@spcregion.org or mail them to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission at 42 21st St., Suite 101, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
