The Southwest Regional Traffic Safety Network, in conjunction with PennDOT District 12-0, conducted a DUI Awareness Event on the lawn of the Fayette County Courthouse on Tuesday July 2. At the event, 35 American flags were placed on the Courthouse lawn, to commemorate the 35 lives lost in DUI crashes in Fayette County from 2014-2018. Speakers at the event noted that each year, 33% of all traffic fatalities in Fayette County involved driving under the influence. Speakers reminded everyone to be safe behind the wheel this Independence Day and every day.
